Yeah OK, so no update for a while, but we've been pretty busy, y'know...

First off there was Glastonbury. Mud. Lots of it. Gigs were good and fun was had by all. Our hosts were Lost Vagueness who have included "Voodoo Juju" on their recent compilation, the interestingly titled "Lost Vagueness". Other featured artists include Fatboy Slim, Mika and Amy Winehouse. But they're not as good as us. Anyway, you can buy it at Amazon and other stores blah blah. It's actually really good. I've been listening to it in the car.

We also played the Larmer Tree festival in Devon which was an absolute blast. It's a very small affair, but with a great atmosphere and the crowd were MENTAL. I'm angling for an invite back next year.

Forthcoming gigs: The Miller in London Bridge on Saturday 18th August, from about 7.30pm. You can download flyers from here which get you in a bit cheaper.

And Bestival of course. So if you happen to be in the Isle of Wight area and have a ticket, come and see us playing in a tent somewhere at sometime (details tbc).

As you were.

South London Pacific was brilliant, as usual. Thanks to everyone who came down - hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

So, the single is officially out. We're still waiting on the 10" vinyl copies to come in, but you can buy the digital version here: The Voodoo Trombone Quartet - The Phantom - EP

We had been hearing about sightings of The Phantom and have managed to track it down - Nemone on 6music is apparently using it as her intro music...

New gigs just in: we're in the process of confirming The Glade Festival on 21st July, which looks like a hoot. And then we should be playing at Fruitstock on Saturday August 4th, which is a free thing in Regents Park organised by Innocent Smoothies. My understanding is that it's going to be more like a big village fete this year, with welly-throwing and, I don't know, cheese rolling or something. Anyway, it's free, easy to get to and family-friendly, so bring your grannies.

And lastly - on the offchance you happen to reading this in time, we're playing at Cargo in Shoreditch with 7 Seconds of Love tonight, 8th May. Splendid.

Quite a lot of news to tell you this time - first off, "The Phantom EP" will be released in early May on 10" and download. Tracks are: "The Phantom", "Major Taylor - Bicyclist" and "Eastern Wanderer". The last track is also being used as the theme tune for a new Radio 4 sketch show, "The Things Show", written by Kevin Eldon (Nighty Night, Big Train).

To launch the EP, we'll be playing at our spiritual home, South London Pacific on May 6th. It's a Sunday night, but Monday is a bank holiday, so no school in the morning.

Gigs coming up include the Glastonbury Festival on 22nd-24th June, the Larmer Tree Festival on 15th July, and Waterford Spraoi in Ireland, 4th-5th August. I'll also be DJing at the Wroclaw Non-Stop Festival in Poland on 30th June. We're also hoping to be playing the Lost Vagueness festival in August and Bestival in September, but these haven't been confirmed yet.

Happy bloomin' new year! Hope you all had a good Christmas etc. There's not much to report - just wanted to say hello really. Still working on the second album which should hopefully see the light of day in the first half of this year...

As you may have noticed, US sitcom "Ugly Betty" is due to hit our screens on Friday 5th. Watch out for the third episode which features "Voodoo Juju" in a club scene. Groovy!

Also, in other licensing news, it looks like a handful of VTQ tracks will be making it onto the new Davina MacCall pre and post-natal DVD. So you can groove along with your bump or baby and get fit too, as a bonus. Stick with me, people, we're headed for the stars!

It's almost like a monthly update! Seeing as it's the month of Halloween, I've decided to give you, yes you, some FREE MUSIC. Pretty generous of me, huh? Anyhow, it's sort of appropriate for Halloween as the track's called "The Phantom" and is available for download on the VTQ Myspace page until the end of this month. Then it's going on the next album.

I've also heard today, that "Voodoo Juju" has been licensed to appear in the pilot episode of ABC's "Ugly Betty", which was shown on 28th September. The show's gone down well with the critics and was apparently the most-watched new show of the season. So it's the high life for me now.

See you all soon.

Yup. Long time no post. So, what's been going on? Well, we popped in to Juice FM to chat with the lovely Boogaloo Stu, played The Luminaire as a four piece, then South London Pacific as an eight piece, the Baked Beats all-dayer as a five-piece ((pictures are here) and then the Arumdo Summer Weekender as a seven-piece. We narrowly avoided being conscripted by the KGB, and backed the news on 5Live, the football on Smooth FM, and sarcastic footage of Thierry Henry on ITV4's World Cuppa.

In other news, the rather smashing Electech has done a rather lovely animation for Medium Wave, which you can witness in all its glory at her site: http://eclectech.co.uk/mediumwave.php

That's all for now. I'll post up some pictures from Arumdo as soon as they're extracted from the camera. If you're interested, the gig was a blast, but the festival wasn't very well attended sadly.

Still working on the second album by the way. There's a taster on the VTQ Myspace page for your delectation.

Well! Thanks indeed to everyone who came down to Ronnie Scotts last night. The place was packed and turned out to be a great evening. Surly barstaff and all.

There's a few photos taken by Alistair (who manages Big Strides) here.

Forthcoming events for your limited edition snakeskin VTQ diaries (you haven't got one? all sold out now, I'm afraid...):

Feb 15th: Medium Wave 7" release

Feb 19th: Radio interview on Juice FM

Mar 29th: Luminaire gig, with The Big Strides

I'll post up more info about them nearer the time. Laters!

27-01-06

We're playing the legendary RONNIE SCOTTS, supporting The Big Strides and The Pistachios on Sunday February 5th. Tickets are £10 adv (from Ticketweb or 08700 600 100) which is a bit pricey I know, but it'll be one of your last chances to see Ronnies in its seedy glory before they refurbish it in March. We're on first, so get there early. Doors open 7.30pm.

And we're now on Myspace for what it's worth. So come and be my friend!

The Joe Bataan remix is in the can and sounds, to my biased ears, rather smashing. I've no idea when it will be commercially available, but I'll keep you posted.

A VTQ tribute to Thierry Henry in the form of "Tom Hark" appears on the new Arsenal album (for the purposes of this album I'm an Arsenal fan - see how committed I am?). More info at We Love You Arsenal.

I've also contributed a cheap and shoddy version of Silent Night for The Skinkers Christmas Monkey - a seasonal chatbot application from my daytime employers.

And I suppose I should wish the many VTQ fans across the world a happy Christmas, so...HAPPY CHRISTMAS YOU LOVELY PEOPLE!

22-11-05

The South London Pacific gig was great again - thanks to everyone who came along. It was even more crowded than the July gig, though the various parties in for birthdays and hen nights helped...

Currently working on a remix for legendary New York singer Joe Bataan for ESL Music who are handling the online release of his splendid "Call My Name" album. I'm remixing the title track. I'll let you know when it's released.

12-10-05

Another gig at South London Pacific! Friday 21st October with Nick Hollywood (Lemon) and Weegee on the ones and twos. We may even try to cram a french horn on stage too this time...

Also, you can now download the album from (deep breath): Wippit, iTunes, 7 Digital, TuneTribe, Musicnet, Sony Connect, Napster, eMusic, Music Choice, Yeahronimo, OD2, ATS Digital, Big Pond and Yahoo. So make sure you get your digital copy while stocks last!

23-08-05

Been a while since the last update. Thanks to everyone who came along to the South London Pacific Gig, which was brilliant fun. You can see some grainy pics here.

First off, the unreleased "Eastern Wanderer" is available for free in the download section. This replaces "VTQ From The Block" which will be on the b-side to the new VTQ 7", "Medium Wave". Out 26th September.

The album has also been reviewed in the latest edition of Future Music. I'll scan it in when I get a chance.

26-07-05

"Your Pleasure Is Our Pleasure" is included on the latest compilation from Italian label Record Kicks, SoulShaker 2. There's a limited vinyl edition which is very nice indeed.

And don't forget, the VTQ are playing in London this Friday (29th July) at South London Pacific, 340 Kennington Rd. Free before 9pm, £5 after. I believe we'll be on about 10pm.

11-07-05

The split 7" with Lemon is now in the shops. Featuring "Voodoo Juju" from the album on one side and Suzie Q by fellow Freshly Squeezed artists, Lemon, on the other. You can buy it at all good record shops (well, the ones that stock indie 7"s) and online at Kudos Records or Juno Records. It's a limited edition and is expected to sell out quite soon...so...well, you know.

05-07-05

DEBUT GIG! The Voodoo Trombone Quartet will be be performing live at South London Pacific, London's premier tiki bar, on Friday 29th July. Entry is free before 9pm, £5 after.

27-06-05

The new site's up to coincide with the albums release. You can buy it online from Kudos Records (click on Freshly Squeezed Music in the label list). There's also a split single with Lemon coming out at the beginning of July on limited edition 7", also available from Kudos. We're currently rehearsing a full-band to take to the stage very shortly - dates to be posted here soon.

24-06-05

Good review of the new album from Scorebaby. Read it here - second review down.

Also, apparently the double a-side 12" with Lemon is in at number 48 with a bullet in DJ Magazine's Breaks and Beats Chart. Welcome to the high life!
